Headsets are used for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, when a working environment is exceptionally loud, a headset can provide a better reception and audibility than a conventional handset. Sound is amplified and the wearer enjoys better concentration on the caller’s voice as background sounds are eliminated to a degree.

The constant sounds in a standard office such as photocopying machines, other telephones, fax machines, the conversations of colleagues and furniture being scraped on floors all add to background distraction. A headset can improve matters immeasurably by reducing the intrusion of other sounds.

Headsets offer optional sound adjustments for the user not usually available with traditional handsets. The treble or bass tone levels can be increased or decreased, for better comfort and clarity.

Most Plantronics headsets feature a single pad with a support that grips the wearer’s head on the other side. However, for those working in an extremely noisy environment, double pad models are available which are most useful for totally blocking out distracting background noise. By utilizing a double pad headset, it is possible to increase accuracy and ensure greater efficiency.
