There are many phone systems out there for businesses and what is the best really depends on what you need. Most businesses are happy to be able to answer 1-100 or more incoming calls and simply want the option to place a call on hold and or transfer the call. If that is you then any Hybrex, LG-Ericsson, Samsung, Alcatel, Commander, etc will do the job. 80-90% of businesses just want to take, make, or transfer a call and of course hang up on them after providing a service or product.

If you need the basics then look for a phone system that offers you an easy to use handset, and that will not cost the world. Look out for brands that offer at least 1yr warranty.
AVOID:

Avoid contract purchases as you can normally finance hardware yourself or thru a broker without being contracted into long phone plans with supposed cheap calls. Nothing is free and I have heard companies paying 5 times the usual cost of hardware when they have signed into a 2-5 year phone plan deal.
